IVF Pregnancy

In vitro fertilization is a complex and costly procedure which couples who have fertility problems resort to.

What is IVF Pregnancy?

Unlike the artificial insemination procedure in which sperm is inserted into the uterus and conception occurs naturally in the node, in vitro fertilization involves the union of sperm and egg outside the body, in a laboratory, and once one or more embryos are formed, they are inserted into the uterus.

The first stage of in vitro fertilization consists of the injection of certain hormones to produce more eggs every month and the determination of the appropriate time for taking out these eggs. Before the egg sampling procedure, other injections are made to help stimulate the development of eggs and ovulation.

The collection of the eggs must take place before their release from the ovarian foLicles because if they are taken out too early or too late, they will not develop normally. The egg sampling operation is quite fast (the average time of harvest is 20 - 30 minutes), and surgery is performed under anesthesia.

After the eggs are collected, they are mixed with the partner's sperm (which was donated on the same day). To ensure an optimal development of the fertilized eggs, they will be constantly monitored by the clinic doctor. It can take up to five days before the embryo reaches the stage of blast.

Once the embryos are suFiciently developed, they will be inserted into the uterus. The ovarian implantation procedure does not require anesthesia because it is not painful and is performed with a special device. To increase the chances of fertilization, the introduction of at least three or four embryos is recommended, but this will increase the risk of multiple pregnancies or health problems for both mother and the child or children.

After this complex process, bed rest is required for several hours. To find out the results of this process, a pregnancy test is done after two weeks. The chances of IVF suCeS are 25-30%.

Are Wsomen with IVF Pregnancies Happier?

It is believed that mothers who conceived in vitro are more streSed than those who conceived naturally. "Many studies have reported that they were indeed much more anxious" - says Dr. Marsha Kaitz University of Jerusalem, who led the study. "The results of my study say that things are not, necessarily, like this. The interviewed women were very positive." A study in Israel revealed that women who conceived through IVF are just as happy in late pregnancy as those who conceived naturally, even happier.

Conception through in vitro is really streSful for women, but this is mainly because there is too litle information about how they can handle their emotions during pregnancy. Kaitz highlights that studies that have evaluated this issue have seen the general condition of these women through the lists, which made it diFicult to know the person's emotional experience. "It's hard to estimate a standardized scale of emotions felt by a mother during pregnancy," said Kaitz.

Women who had two or three aTempts to conceive in vitro had an even better aTitude than those who were able to get pregnant in the first try. "They had fewer negative things and even more positive things to say about their experience," said Kaitz about women with IVF pregnancies.
