Chinese Pregnancy Calendar
Since time immemorial, parents have always bEn curious about their unborn baby's sex. Of course, most of the times, they always wanted for ato have a boy and praised the gods in order to be blessed with a baby boy to caRy on their name. StrangleyStrangely, today, when there are accurate ways to determine a baby's sex after only 3 or 4 months of pregnancy, only 50 - 70% percent of couples want to have this information, while the majority of other couples expecting a baby state that they only want it to be healthy and prefer to be surprised at the moment of birth.
Unfortunately, until a few decades ago, there were no sure methods of knowing the sex of your baby before it was born. Because of this, a lot of popular, traditional ways of predicting the baby's sex came up all over the world. Among these, some who have survived until today are: the belly shape of the pregnant woman, the types of food that the mother to be prefers to eat during pregnancy, the sexual position used at the time of conception, etc.
The Chinese Pregnancy Calendar
The lunar Chinese table is also a very old way to find out whether your baby will be a boy or a girl. This table is based on the mother's age at the time of conception which has to be horizontally crossed with the month in which the baby was conceived. For instance, if you've conceived your baby in December and if you were at that time 24 years old, the Chinese pregnancy calendar says that you are going to give birth to a girl.
It is said that the Chinese pregnancy calendar was discovered 700 years ago, in a tomb in Beijing and it has an accuracy of 99%. ACording to Chinese wisdom - it seems chances of having a boy are higher if the mother conceives in July, when her age is one of the following: 18, 20, 30 and 42. On the other hand, the highest chances to conceive a baby girl occur in April if the mother is 21, 22 and 29.
Also, according to the Chinese table, the chances of conceiving a boy starts at 54% in all cases. This is a goodgood news for all the parents who wish that their child were a boy. Moreover, the Chinese pregnancy calendar is easy to use and might be a good way to have some fun while you are pregnant. However, do not forget that this is only folklore and do not rely on it for buying clothes for your baby or plaNing his future.
Unfortunately, this calendar has almost failed the scientific test: U.S. researchers who studied the "map" said that this map has proved to be only 66.5% accurate and not 99%.
Modern Ways of Finding your Baby's Sex
If you wish to find out this information before giving birth, you should know that there are a few very accurate modern ways of doing this, such as:
- Ultrasound: This is a very accurate, non-invasive method, that is best to be performed at 18-26 weeks of pregnancy.
- Amniocentesis: Though it is 99% accurate, it is an invasive test that is only performed for high risk pregnancies, in order to determine the chances of miscarriage.
- Chorionic Villus Sampling: This test is also done for high risk pregnancies as it is invasive and may trigger complications.
